Mary Francis Berry spoke with Phil Glende. Berry, author of the new book “Five Dollars and a Pork Chop Sandwich: Vote Buying and the Corruption of Democracy,” was the keynote speaker at the Martin Luther King Jr. dinner at Indiana State University on Friday. Berry is a longtime activist for civil rights, gender equity and social justice. She was the chairperson of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission under President Bill Clinton and also served on the commission during the Carter administration.
